Simon Levy, a 40-year-old registered sex offender, was sentenced to a whole life order at the Old Bailey on 12 August 2026. He had been found guilty by a jury the previous week of murdering Carmensa Valencia Trujillo and Cheryl Wilkins, and of raping a third woman. The judge, Mark Lucraft KC, said Levy ruthlessly exploited women for his own sexual satisfaction and had a morbid fascination with sex, rape and crime. The whole life order means Levy will never be eligible for parole. The case was marked by a series of failures by police and the courts. Levy had previously been jailed for sexual assault and was on the sex offenders register. After his release, he was investigated for further sexual assaults on the London Underground, but was repeatedly released on bail. He went on to commit the murders in 2025.
