The UK government announced fresh sanctions on Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, with Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband accusing illegal settlers of ethnic cleansing and saying those who finance or facilitate settlements would face the full force of UK sanctions. Israel responded by closing the UK's consulate in Jerusalem and banning 11 MPs, including Jeremy Corbyn and Diane Abbott, from entering the country. The Chief Rabbi called it a dark day for British Jews, the US warned of repercussions, and the Conservatives called the move performative, while Prime Minister Andy Burnham defended the decision as acting in support of British values.
A GB News exclusive revealed illegal migrants entering the UK via lorries, and a new YouGov poll showed the public largely supports detaining asylum seekers and reviewing previously approved claims. Reform UK's home affairs spokesman Zia Yusuf argued the public is at breaking point and called for mass deportation, while panelists debated the government's handling of migration and the impact on local communities. Separately, Nigel Farage proposed banning all face coverings from balaclavas to burqas, with panelists discussing the merits of such a ban in light of recent protests.
Despite US opposition, Prime Minister Andy Burnham is pressing ahead with the Chagos Islands surrender deal, and a Telegraph analysis suggested the cost has ballooned by an additional £288 million. An interview with a Chagos Islands representative highlighted the emotional and financial toll, while the Foreign Office defended the deal as essential for maintaining control of the Diego Garcia military base.
