A British man jailed in Iran, Craig Foreman, has had two years added to his sentence as punishment for speaking to the media, according to his family. Foreman, who was arrested with his wife while passing through the country on a motorcycle journey, was already serving 10 years on spying charges, which he strongly denies.

Andy Burnham has called for a serious review of MP security after the death of Ann Widdecombe. Counter Terror Police said she was killed in a targeted attack, and a 28-year-old suspect arrested in Rotherham is being held under the Terrorism Act for up to seven days. Sir Keir Starmer said he is horrified by her death and that we must do more to defend our democracy, speaking at his final Prime Minister's questions.
