Fires in southwest France and Spain have forced around 330,000 people to evacuate, and a large fire in Spain close to Badridge continued to burn overnight. Temperatures in England are set to soar again today and tomorrow, fires are still burning in Scotland and Wales, and heat health alerts have been upgraded to amber across parts of England.
Armed police are to be deployed at Brighton Pride this weekend after an attack in Berlin in which one person was killed and 29 others were injured when a van was driven into a crowd at a Pride event there. Police are investigating a social media post re-shared by Green Party leader Zack Polanski that showed a man wearing a T-shirt with a picture of a guillotine and the word Nigel, leading to Reform UK leader Nigel Farage; Reform UK accused Polanski of incitement to murder, while Mr Polanski condemns the image.
