The economic spokesman Robert Jenrick insisted that £72 million in donations from two cryptocurrency billionaires were entirely legal. The government said it is bringing in measures to protect against overseas donations and that these would be retrospective. Elon Musk was among tech giants backing calls for the AI industry to slow development to allow safety measures to catch up, following a warning from the CEO of Anthropic that AI could soon lead a swarm of agents capable of taking over the internet.
More than 60,000 people took part in the Great North Run, including the Prime Minister Andy Burnham. The Duchess of Sussex shared snippets of family outings in the UK, featuring her and Harry walking hand in hand and their children on outdoor adventures; the couple moved back to the UK about a fortnight ago.
