The bulletin reported that President Trump hosted Chinese President Xi Jinping at a White House state dinner and toasted a future of harmony, peace and success for both nations, though there was little indication of progress on pressing issues. Xi stressed that AI should remain under human control and that both countries should act as responsible major countries. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended his country's military campaigns in Iran and Gaza in a speech to the UN General Assembly, vowing to continue fighting and calling delegates who walked out in protest moral cowards.
Anti-migrant activist Daniel Thomas pleaded not guilty at Basingstoke's Magistrates Court to charges of criminal damage and failing to disclose his phone PIN. The 37-year-old, known to supporters as Danny Tomo, is alleged to have slashed a boat in the English Channel on Tuesday with a rescue crew member on board. Diesel prices were set to break the all-time record within days, with the average litre at £1.95, four pence short of the record set in June 2022, and industry experts saying it was increasingly likely the record would be broken next week. Pope Leo arrived in France for a four-day visit aimed at repairing the Catholic Church's standing after abuse scandals; it was the first papal visit to France for 18 years, and around 600,000 people had registered to join an outdoor mass in central Paris tomorrow.
The bulletin also reported that Batman was alive and well fighting crime in Norfolk. The Caped Crusader was caught on camera retrieving a woman's handbag after chasing a thief through Norwich, but the report said this was not Bruce Wayne; it was Sonny from London, who had been at a friend's fancy dress party when he unexpectedly took on one of the city's criminals.
