During a visit to Ireland, President Donald Trump said he would love to see Irish reunification and that it would happen eventually, making the remarks after talks with Taoiseach Micheál Martin and following a meeting with Irish President Catherine Connolly. Downing Street responded by referring to the Good Friday Agreement, while DUP leader Gavin Robinson said the future of Northern Ireland would be decided by its people. Separately, Saudi Arabia closed a critical oil pipeline after a drone attack launched from Iraq, an incident occurring amid a major advance by Houthi rebels in Yemen; President Trump reportedly rejected a Saudi request for American intervention.
In France, a train derailment between Rouen and Cannes injured more than 40 people, including an 18-year-old woman in a critical condition. Reform UK confirmed receiving two donations totalling £72 million from two British billionaires, the largest ever to a British political party, prompting calls for donation caps from other parties. SDLP leader Claire Hanna told its annual conference that the Stormont executive is too focused on the past, while a charity reported that over a million older people are missing out on entitled benefits like pension credit and housing benefit, with the government stating it is working to increase uptake.

So I think, again, another indication here of a strategy of trying to contain the fighting happening in Yemen. This is a fighting that risks reigniting the civil war in Yemen, which is the poorest country in the region, where millions of people are already in desperate need of aid. And according to the UN, more than 40,000 people have already been displaced because of the fighting.
