Tributes were paid to two police officers, PC Matthew Blades and PC Tom Clough, killed in a collision on the A66 in Cleveland during the early hours of the morning. The marked police car was hit by a Volkswagen Passat travelling the wrong way, and all seven people in the two vehicles died at the scene. In Shoreham, a six-year-old girl named Saja El-Kawas died in hospital, becoming the fourth member of her family to lose their life after getting into difficulty off Kingston Beach, following the earlier deaths of her parents and 14-year-old sister.
