The broadcast opened with the Reform UK party conference in Birmingham, where Nigel Farage faced fallout from an undercover investigation aired by Channel 4 News. Two senior aides, James Orr and Dan Dukes, were suspended over footage appearing to suggest ways to circumvent funding rules, which Farage dismissed as 'loose pub talk' while denying any illegal funding. His keynote speech was repeatedly disrupted by hecklers, but he pledged to stop small boat crossings within 100 days of government, declare a national emergency, and cut energy bills by £250. The conference also featured an agreement with French National Rally leader Jordan Bardella on returning migrants, though the funding scandal overshadowed policy announcements. In Walsall, some Reform voters expressed concerns about donations, while others remained loyal, and political analysis suggested the party still faced significant trust issues.
A second major story was the dramatic collapse of the US murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, who admitted killing her three children but pleaded postpartum psychosis. After six days of deliberation, the jury was deadlocked and a mistrial was declared, leaving prosecutors to decide on a retrial. The case had divided America, with supporters in pink and critics including the president. In Nepal, two workers were rescued alive after nine days trapped in a flooded hydroelectric tunnel, with one in critical condition and hopes raised for others still missing. The Argentine president Javier Milei restated his country's claim to the Falkland Islands, citing US President Trump's ambiguous comments on sovereignty, and threatened economic sanctions over oil drilling. Cambridge University announced a review into the death of Professor Jason Arday, who was found dead last month after resigning. Finally, Gary Lineker discussed his podcast network, saying he had no regrets about leaving the BBC and calling for FIFA president Gianni Infantino to resign over his 'rogue' actions.

after the killings. After cutting herself, she jumped from an upstairs window, leaving her paralysed but still alive. The trial in Massachusetts saw her husband give disturbing testimony about the scene he found after her attempted suicide. And the blood that you saw, where was that located in the room?

And this week her lawyer claimed the trial had put a spotlight on an issue which needs highlighting. If anything, this case showed clearly and unequivocally the woeful deficiency that women have when they're pregnant, when they have babies, and God forbid when they're on medication because of post-partum depression, post-partum psychosis.
