The Full Story

A plain summary built from the channels that reported this story.

A 10-year-old boy from North Somerset has completed a 970-mile cycle to every Premier League stadium in England, raising money for Cancer Research UK in memory of his grandfather.

Charlie, from Backwell, set off with his father Chris on a 16-day journey that took in all 20 top-flight grounds. He finished at Bournemouth's Vitality Stadium at the weekend, having powered through long days on the bike.

Charlie's grandfather, Mike, died last year from cancer at the age of 65. Speaking about his motivation, Charlie said: "I'm doing this for my granddad. I never want to be affected by cancer." He added: "I did it just because I loved him so much and it was very hard watching him battle for cancer so I'll try to raise money for other people to stay with their grandads longer."

The challenge was physically demanding. The BBC reporter noted it was "ridiculously challenging" and marvelled at how Charlie "got up and did it every single morning for 9, 10, 12 hours a day on a bike."

Despite his own favourite team, Southampton, not currently in the Premier League, Charlie managed a detour to see them win. Now that the ride is over, he says he is looking forward to doing nothing, putting his feet up and his bike down.
