The investigation follows a news report which uncovered squalid conditions inside homes run by Blue Ribbon Healthcare Group, including allegations of sexual and physical abuse. One case involved Rowan, a young man with learning disabilities, who was often found outside naked by his parents and once developed frostbite. The home that cared for Rowan was charging his council £12,500 a week.
The Prime Minister reportedly saw the report and said there must be consequences. The CQC, which has the power to prosecute care companies and shut them down, has now confirmed it is investigating. After the report appeared, that web page was taken down and all reference to ownership of Blue Ribbon was removed. The page reappeared nine days later, but still without any comment from Queen's Park Equity on the allegations.

The CQC's decision to suspend the ratings suggests it is taking the matter seriously, but the company and its owners have yet to provide fuller answers.
