The Full Story

A plain summary built from the channels that reported this story.

A 29-year-old motorcyclist has been jailed for four years after filming himself riding at speeds of up to 189mph on roads in Kent. Amin Balishka was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court after pleading guilty to multiple dangerous driving charges. He was convicted of 22 offences in total, most of which related to footage he filmed himself.

The judge told Balishka that it was sheer luck, not skill on his part, that no one was killed by his behaviour. One video showed him slowing down as soon as he realised police were following him. He appeared to blow a kiss at officers before speeding off again. Other clips from his helmet camera showed him reaching 189mph at night.

Police said they waited until it was safe to catch him. They deployed a stinger to slash his tyres and slow him down. Balishka filmed that too and tried to run off into a bush to hide.

He posted many of the videos online to about 22,000 followers on social media. The judge told him he was arrogant and plainly relished the attention. Balishka smirked at cameras as he arrived at court.

The court issued a deprivation order for his £20,000 bike. He was banned from driving for ten years and sentenced to four years in prison.
