Ten members of NHS staff have been removed from duty or suspended after concerns about unauthorised access to the patient records of Noah Woods, the toddler found dead after going missing from a play area in Suffolk.
East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust has apologised for the possible data breach. An investigation has been launched into the accessing of Noah's medical records.
Dr Martin Mansfield, the trust's deputy chief medical officer, said in a statement that the trust apologised unreservedly to Noah's family for what he called extra anguish at an already devastating time.
Noah's family endured an agonising search after he went missing on the afternoon of 15 September. The search lasted more than 24 hours and involved up to 2,000 people. His body was later recovered from a pond close to the play park where he was last seen.
