The Full Story

A plain summary built from the channels that reported this story.

A former supply teacher who worked in schools across the north-west has been jailed for six years after carrying out a series of child sexual offences, including taking more than 100 upskirting photos of pupils.

Abb Bussali Raman abused his position of trust while teaching at several secondary schools in Bolton, Bury and Salford. The offences took place between 2023 and 2025. His victims were teenage girls aged between 13 and 16.

Police began investigating after a parent spotted an image of their child in school uniform circulating online. Raman had been secretly taking upskirt photos of pupils. When he was arrested earlier this year, officers seized multiple devices from him. The devices were reviewed and downloaded, and further evidence was found on his laptop.

An officer told Raman during questioning: "I'm going to tell you now I know that there are hundreds of videos of upskirting on your mobile device that we've attributed to you and there's upskirting videos of females in school settings."

Investigators found category A, B and C indecent images of children. Some were first generation, meaning Raman produced the upskirting images himself. Others were category A and B material downloaded from the internet. Police also found a range of images that he had pulled from social media accounts and then created AI imagery of those children. The report also said he created sexualised deep face material. Raman also admitted voyeurism.

His victims are receiving specialist help to come to terms with the lasting impact of his actions. He was sentenced to six years in prison.
