In coverage on 15 October, ITV1, BBC ONE West and Channel 4 reported that a severe drought had been declared in parts of southern England. They said the affected areas included Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, West Sussex and East Sussex. ITV1 attributed the declaration to the Environment Agency, while Channel 4 said the government had declared it. BBC ONE West did not name the declaring body in its reports.
