What was reported
A plain summary of this topic, built from the channels that covered it.
Sky News and ITV1 reported that US President Donald Trump criticised the Nobel committee after the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Navi Pillay, named by ITV1 as Navi Pillai and described by Sky News as a South African born jurist and former UN human rights chief. Sky News said Trump insisted he should have received the prize and, speaking at a rally in New York, called the committee crooked and said the award had gone to a liberal person at the United Nations whom he had not heard of. ITV1 reported that Trump criticised Norway's Nobel committee for again failing to give him the prize, said he had never heard of winner Navi Pillai, and claimed he should have been given eight prizes for stopping eight wars. ITV1 also carried his remarks calling the decision a stain on Norway and saying the prize had been discredited by what he described as radical ideologues.
