The Full Story
A plain summary built from the channels that reported this story.
BBC Racing commentator John Hunt and his daughter Amy are preparing to walk 120 miles from Hertfordshire to Bournemouth this weekend. The walk is in memory of his wife Carol and their two daughters, Louise and Hannah, who were murdered two years ago.
The couple have set up the Hunt Family Fund to give back to causes close to their family. Speaking to BBC Breakfast, John explained why Bournemouth was chosen as the end point. He said the family had loved holidays on that stretch of the south coast, and he and Carol had cherished opportunities to go there in later years. "We were able to decompress. We were able to reconnect with each other and escape the madness of day-to-day life," he said.
The idea for the walk came from John's sister Alison. Amy said she, her partner Gareth, and her father had been planning it together. She described it as "a bit of purpose in our days" and a way to do something in honour of the girls. She spoke of the darkness left by the perpetrator, and their determination to show the world how wonderful her mother and sisters were.
John also reflected on the early weeks after the murders, when he said they could not move. "You hear about, oh, I can't get out of bed. That was us," he said. He added that various points made them realise they had to start moving and embrace their grief.
The walk takes place this coming weekend, and the family hope to raise money for causes close to them.
